7 Habits

Rock Creek is very proud to be a school that teaches the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (by Author Stephen Covey). Our goal is to instill the 7 Habits into all aspects of our school. These Habits provide students the opportunity to learn the skills they need to in order to be successful in life. These habits focus on responsibility, vision, integrity, teamwork, and collaboration.
We cannot be successful without support from teachers, students, and parents. Please continue to reinforce the 7 habits with your son or daughter so that they are receiving the same message whether in the classroom, on the playground or away from school.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People:
  1. Be Proactive
  2. Begin with the End in Mind
  3. Put First Things First
  4. Think Win-Win
  5. Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
  6. Synergize
  7. Sharpen the Saw
Why Teach The Habits?
  • "The ultimate end in mind for teaching the habits is to prepare students for dealing with life. It is to help students become self-reliant (independent) and to work well with others (interdependent). It is to help students thrive as students, as parents, as members of the forthcoming workforce, and as community citizens. And the habits are not just for use in their distant futures, they are for their today. The habits encompass many of the very same skills and traits that parents and business leaders are calling for to be taught". - Stephen Covey
